How To Double Space Bullets In WordPress Without Using Coding

Learning how to double space bullets in WordPress can be quite frustrating for many people (as I was once of those people).

Now if you’re unaware WordPress automatically single spaces all list within their program — then on top of that make it to where it’s almost impossible to add an extra space to the list.

Therefore after doing a lot of researching and testing, I finally figured out a way you can double space both bullet list and numbered list without having to use any plugins, or do any sort of advanced coding — and you can do it very quickly too.

Now while double spacing both bullet and numbered is very similar, there’s also a few differences between them too.

Therefore I’m going to start off by showing you how to do this with bullet list, since it’s the easier of the two.

How To Double Space Bullets

As I previously mentioned, when you create a bullet list in WordPress it will normally look like this with no extra space in between each bullet.

So in order to add that extra space, you’ll want to do the following things:

1. After the first bullet in your list, you want to press the enter key twice. This will create a large gap between the first bullet and second one.

2. Next you want to place your cursor at the end of your first bullet and press delete. This will close the large gap between the two bullets making it now look like a normal double spaced list.

Once you’ve done this, simply repeat steps 1 and 2 to make the rest of your bullets double spaced.

Here’s a short clip showing you what this is like in action.

Now that you understand how to double space bullets, let me know show you how you’ll be double spacing numbered list.

How To Double Space Numbered List

Numbered list are a little bit trickier to do, but don’t worry as once I show you how it’s done you’ll be able to do it in your sleep.

Now first thing you’ll want to do is hit the enter key twice between each bullet so that each numbered list has the number “1” next to it.

Here’s an example of how it should look.

Numbered List

Next you want to highlight each list below your first one and click the “text tab” within WordPress. You will then find an HTML tag that says <ol>.This is the tag we will be editing in this section.

Now what you’ll want to do with this tag is to change it to look like this: <ol start=”2″>

The number 2 represents what number you want it to be within your list. So below your first numbered list you will have the following code say (ol start= “2”), then (ol start= “3”) and so on.

Once you’ve done this for all your numbered list, they should now say numbers 1 through however many you have — and they should also be double spaced too.

Here is short video showing you how I do this within WordPress.

Why Should You Even Incorporate List Into Your Content?

While you probably came here wanting to learn how to double space bullet list, what you might not of known is “why” adding list into your content is important to begin with.

Simply put it adds white space to your content making it easier for your viewers to read your content.

I wrote a whole post here talking about how you should write content for your visitors.

In short though you want to make your content easy to read, talk to them as if you would a friend, and provide helpful information they are looking for.

So by adding bullet list you make it easy for people to scan and absorb your content, without making them sift through a huge wall of text.

Also to help make this more clear for you on how to double space list within WordPress, here’s a short 4 minute video of me walking you through what you just read.

Final Thoughts

I hope after reading this post, you will have a much easier time in the future double spacing both bullet and numbered list within WordPress.

While I’m sure there are other ways you can go about doing this, like I said this is this easiest method I’ve found so far that doesn’t involve coding or plugins to make it work.

Now if you’re like me, you probably get frustrated when you sometimes have to spend hours figuring out how to do something online — like double spacing bullets in WordPress.

Luckily I’ve come across a program that has practically eliminated me having to search on Google when trying to figure something out.

The program I’m talking about is called Wealthy Affiliate.

Why I Think Wealthy Affiliate Is Amazing

While I could list a million things I like about WA, there are two main ones that come to mind…

  • The Community
  • The Training

While the training is mainly taught by one of the co-owners Kyle, what I also like is that MANY people within WA also create their own training to help people out.

Now this program has over a million people in it right now, so I think you can now see why I hardly ever have to use Google anymore to find information when I have a million people right here to help me out.

So if your sick and tired of searching through Google on how to do things, and want a place where you can find helpful training about all sorts of topics — I highly urge you to check Wealthy Affiliate out.

  1. Hi Michael and great tutorial of double spacing bullet points without using coding! I found it very helpful.

I usually single space my lists, only because it doesn’t automatically give me the option to do otherwise. I will use your method from now on!

Also, I liked how you tied your training into Wealthy Affiliate! I have been a member for a year and a half and it has truly changed my life amazingly! I wish you all the best and thanks, again!

    • I’m glad this post could help you out Erin, and if you do decide to double space some of you bullets in the future let me know how it went. 🙂

I’m glad you are enjoying Wealthy Affiliate, and I would say hands down it’s been the best place I’ve come across in learning how to make a regular income online.

  2. This is some awesome stuff! I have tried to figure this out myself in the past, but it always seems to turn my post into a jumbled mess lol.

Your videos that you included are great! Makes it very easy to understand exactly how to do this.

Anyone that has a their own website understands that your content needs to be broken up and this will truly help!

    • I’m glad I could help you out Nate. 🙂

It’s true that making your website easy to read can greatly improve your conversions — which is the main reason I created this post to begin with.

Sometimes when I had too many bullet points put together, it looked like a big wall of text making it hard to read. However now that I can double space them, it makes a world of difference by just having a little bit of extra white space in between each bullet.

  3. Hi Michael I read through your page. Thank you very much for this info. I never knew how to double space bullets before, but through your post you certainly taught me how.

Can this lesson be adopted and used in other areas of the WordPress post without coding?

Do you have any lesson on the proper use of coding including Text and Links?

    • I’m not quite sure what you mean by other areas on WordPress — but the method I show here can be used both on post and pages within WordPress.

I don’t have any lessons either on how to do html coding — because with using WordPress you don’t need to.

Creating post, links, and adding images within WordPress is very simple — and is one of the main reason why I like using it so much.
