Is Mypoints Legit

You might have come across several opportunities online claiming you can make easy money and are now wondering if any of them are even true.

Therefore within my review today, I’ll be answering the question is MyPoints legit or a scam out to take your precious time and money.

And hopefully by the time you finish reading my post, you’ll have been able to make an educated decision as to whether or not you want to join this website.

So with that said, let’s jump right into it.

Quick Summary Of MyPoints

Name: MyPoints

Website: Mypoints.com

Price: Free to join

Rating: 2 out of 5

What Is MyPoints?

Mypoints is basically a website you can sign up to for free and get paid to do do a variety of task such as answering surveys and watching videos.

Their website began back in 1996 and has now been around for a little over 24 years now.

Now for a survey site to have been around for so long they have probably been doing a thing or two right along the way you would think — but the real question is are they still worth joining or are there better alternatives out there you can try?

Well I don’t want to sway you one way or the other, but I’ll just show you some of the facts I found out about this company while doing my research and let you make the final decision.

How Does MyPoints Work?

The first thing you must do before you can start earning anything with this site is you’ll have to sign up and answer some basic information about yourself like how old you are, if your married, your education level, etc.

Also Mypoints at this current time is only available to US and Canadian people who are 18 years or older. Anyone not living in these two countries will be severely limited as to what they can do after they sign up.

I’m not exactly sure why their demographic selection is like this, but my guess is people who don’t live in one of these two areas can’t give them the information they are looking for.

Now assuming you do live in either of these countries and you’ve signed up, you’ll have several different ways to earn “points” which after you’ve accumulated so many of them will turn into cash.

Some of the main activities you can do within their program to earn these points are…

  • Answering surveys
  • Reading emails
  • Shopping
  • Watching Videos
  • Searching the web
  • And playing games

How Much Can You Make?

Whether you’re answering a survey, watching a video, or reading some emails — at the end of the day each of the activities on average will earn you between $.10 – $. 50 cent.

So at most you’re looking maybe to earn a few bucks a day on this site if your real diligent — and IF you have surveys to do.

Also one other way you can go about making money is by referring people into the program — which is how people on the internet are able to make hundreds of dollars a month with sites like this.

Now with Mypoints in particular, there are three different ways you can earn money with your referrals.

  1. You’ll earn 25 points for each new person you invite
  2. When your referral spends $20 or more you earn 750 points, and they earn 1,750 points
  3. You also get a 10% bonus on all the points your referral earns

Now after you’ve obtained so many points, you can then cash them a few different ways such as gifts cards or using a Paypal account.

And from what I’ve seen in terms of Paypal at least, the minimum you need to make is $10 which equals out to 1,590 points.

MyPoints Red Flags

Many People Claim They Can’t Cash Out

Now I’m not saying that this happens to everyone or that it will ever happen to you, but after looking at some of the complaints about this program I saw that many people were having trouble cashing out their points once they obtained enough.

Is Mypoints Legit - people can't cash out

As shown in this pic here, this person said that the redeem button greyed out then when they tried to log out and back in their account had been deactivated!

And as I just mentioned I read several people experiencing this same problem.

Their Customer Service Is Not Good

According to previous people that tried Mypoints out, whenever they had a problem with something the customer service would take forever to respond to them or worst completely ignore their questions.

Now I don’t know about you but if I just spent the past few days or weeks answering surveys and all of a sudden my account gets frozen or I can’t withdraw my cash — I want answers immediately as to why this is the case.

However sadly it seems Mypoints has been slipping in this area and not helping people to the best of their abilities.

You Might Not Qualify For Many Surveys

As I mentioned previously, at best on sites like this you’ll only earn a few bucks a day for doing surveys — and let’s face it most of the time they are quite boring.

However what’s worst is spending 25 minutes on a survey then be told right before you finish that you don’t qualify.

And this too seems to be an ongoing problem with Mypoints.

Now they say you will still earn a few points if this happens — but that basically amounts to a couple of pennies which to me means you basically did it all for nothing.

Is MyPoints A Scam?

To answer this questions simply, MyPoints is not a scam but they aren’t the best survey site I’ve reviewed by a long shot either.

Now many people said that several years back MyPoints used to be a great site that you could join and easily earn points and get paid for doing so.

But now with accounts being locked, people not being able to cash out, and many people not being qualified for one survey after another — I would not recommend you join this site.

However if you still want to do surveys or activities like this and not have to deal with all the problems Mypoints seems to be having — I would suggest you have a look at Swagbucks which to me is a whole lot better.

What I Like About It

  • It gives you several different ways to earn, like watching videos and surfing the web
  • It gives you the option to redeem your points in a few different ways

What I Don’t Like About It

  • There are lots of complaints of people not being able to cash out once they earned enough points
  • A lot of people seem to get screened out of surveys at the last minute
  • This site will only benefit people who live in the USA or Canada
  • The customer service seems to be almost nonexistent

My Final Thoughts

Survey sites in general have never interested me, simply because I never saw the point of answering boring surveys day in and day out for just a few bucks.

And with Mypoints here, it seems that you won’t even earn a dollar due to how often people are getting screened out of them.

Therefore I don’t see this program benefiting you in any way, shape or form.

However if you are still interested in learning how to generate an income online that can potentially change your life and not just earn you a few bucks — then I would recommend you check out my favorite program online

It teaches you how to build websites and promote products that can and will eventually let you earn a passive income online — which is something you can NEVER do with survey sites.

It also gives you all the tools and training you need in order to succeed, a huge community of people you can ask for help from when you get stuck, and they even let you try it out completely for free ( no credit card needed )!

So if this sounds like something you may want to try out, click the link below to learn more about it.

  1. Michael, It seems you have done some extensive research with this review and after reading through it I am 100% behind you that this would be a waste of time to join.

I do however have some questions about your top rated program online.

What will you be doing to make money with it, how fast can you expect to earn money, and is there a way to monitor your results?

Thank you again for detailed and well explained review.

    • My #1 recommend program online teaches people how to make money through affiliate marketing.

So basically you’ll be creating websites around a topic you find interesting ( be in sports, fashion, or even making money online ) then you’ll promote products on your website to help people solve a particular problem — which is how you’ll get paid.

Now the best way to get visitors to your site right now is through SEO ( search engine optimization ) so this will take some time to acquire as you build out content on your site. Therefore on average you’ll start making money within 6 months’ time — but some people have made money their first month and some have taken longer.

It’s all up to how fast you go through the training and how much effort you are willing to put into your website.

Also you can track everyone that visits your website through Google Analytics, and the program itself has a tracking system in place for you to use if you decide to promote their program — of course you don’t have to do this if you don’t want too.

I hope this has helped answer your questions. 🙂

  2. Thank you for your review on Mypoints.

I am already signed up for the Paidviewpoint and Swagbucks and I was just wondering if it is worth it to sign up for Mypoints as well so here I am at your blog. Hmm from other people’s experience with the cash out I may not join Mypoints. I never had any problem with the other 2 platforms, I guess I am just going to have to pass.

    • Having personally used both those programs you talked about, I think you made a good decision to stick with them — as I personally find Swagbucks still my favorite paid site to use to this day.
