Is Opinion City A Scam Or Can You Become Your Own Boss? Find Out The Truth Here.

Opinion City says it can help you earn money from the comfort of your home by connecting you with top market research companies who will then pay you to fill out surveys.

In fact they say with their help, your wallets will be so happy that you can start being your own boss and be making a ton of money online each and every month!

But can this platform really help you make a full time income, or is Opinion City a scam?

Well being as I’ve done several online surveys in the past, as well review several within my site here — I can tell you that there is absolutely no way you will make a good income simply by filling out surveys every day.

In my experience what will really happen, is you’ll end up making just enough to possibly fill your gas tank or buy a few extra groceries each month — and that’s if you do these hours each and every day.

But who really wants to answer boring surveys all day long? I know I sure don’t. Especially if all I end up with is basically pocket change.

But to see exactly what Opinion City is offering, I decided to subscribe to their newsletter and see how much money I could make with their system.

Quick Summary Of Opinion City

Name: Opinion City

Price: Free to join

Rating: 2 out of 5 rating

What Is Opinion City?

Opinion City is not really a survey site per se that will give you money for taking surveys — but instead it’s more of a middle man that will point you to other websites in which you can sign up and make money on.

Now I’ve reviewed similar sites like this in the past such as Take Surveys For Cash— and from my experience I will say that these types of middle man sites usually end up hurting you more than helping you out.

For example, Opinion City claims they will connect you with the most legit companies online so that you can make a lot of easy money — but after just spending a few minutes looking at their different offers I found that this was not completely true.

I mean sure there were some good ones that you could join, but at the same time there were also other ones that I would suggest you stay far away from.

So if you do become a member of this website, just be ready to spend a few hours seeing which sites they are offering you are legit and which ones are not.

How Does Opinion City Work?

Once you subscribe to their newsletter by giving them your name and email address, you’ll then be able to access their members area — if you want to call it that.

Once inside, there’s only 3 tabs for you to choose from called highly recommended, bonus surveys, and coupons & freebies as you can see within the picture above.

Now again you’re not actually taking surveys within this site, but rather Opinion City is linking you to other sites which is where you’ll take surveys and earn money.

So now each and every site you want to join, you have to spend another 5 – 10 minutes filling out information to become a member, which to me is VERY annoying and a complete waste of time.

The thing though is Opoinon City is making money each time they send people to one of these sites through a process called affiliate marketing.

So whether they send you to a site that actually works or not, they will still earn money in the process.

And again after looking at what they are offering, it looks like they are providing you with any survey site they can get their hands no just so they can make more money off of people that come to their website.

Some Red Flags Associated With This Website

Immediately after I joined Opinion City, there were tons of things that made me feel uneasy about using their website.

Below are 5 major red flags that I’d like to share with you that I think you’ll find quite surprising:

1) They Use Made Up People And Titles

When you land on the homepage of Opinion City, your shown an image of lady that is supposed to be a consumer trend investigator for this website.

But upon doing a quick reverse image of this picture, I found out that not only is the title of this lady completely made up — but that the lady Alyssa is also fake!

So it’s very hard for me to take this site seriously, when they are using fake people and titles to help promote their business.

2) There’s No Account Settings

One of the things that shocked me when I first entered the members area, was that my profile or account settings were not where to be found.

Honestly this is the first time I’ve signed up to any kind of website and have absolutely NOTHING about myself when entering.

I mean usually you can at least change your email address or see how much money you made through websites like this. Not with Opinion City though.

I guess they just expect you to keep track of which program you’ve joined and how much you earned by yourself?

3) It Gives You A False Sense Of Urgency

Another thing you’ll notice right away when using this website, is every single offer will say there’s a limited number of spots available to you.

Of course if you come back tomorrow or even next week, you’ll still see the exact same offers available to you.

So of course this is a complete lie, and the only reason they are doing this is to get you to sign up to as many of their offers as fast as possible so they can make money off of you.

4) Over Exaggerated Income Claims

As I’ve mentioned already, this site claims you can be your own boss by simply doing the surveys they recommend — and even go as far to show how much you can expect to make on a daily or weekly basis if you complete all of them.

Again though this is nothing but a blatant lie to get you to sign up to every single survey within their site so that they can make the big bucks, while you’re left making a few dollars.

Out of all the years I’ve been online, I’ve yet to come across a survey that has given me more than $5.00 to complete ( unless I had to spend my own money ) — so I find it VERY hard to believe that even if I did 100 surveys that I would end up with $300 dollars.

5) Some Surveys They Recommend Are Not Good

Last but not least, even though Opinion City claims to offer you the best surveys sites on the internet — I can tell you firsthand that this is completely false.

For example when I signed up to MySurveyJobs (which is one of their top recommendations) I was asked to join 3-4 other survey sites such as Inbox Dollars and Survey Junkie, which I know aren’t that good because I did a review about them a while back.

And while I didn’t sign up to every offer they had, I’m sure I would have run across several other sites that would have been a waste of my time too.

Is Opinion City A Scam?

I would not call Opinion City a scam because you don’t have to pay them a single penny and they still offer you several sites you can join to try and earn money from.

However I would not recommend you join them due to the fact you are going to make little to no money by completing surveys — even though they claim you can eventually become your own boss by doing this.

And the reason I say surveys are not a legit way to make money online, is because some of the common problems you’ll face are…

  • Getting disqualified from surveys even after you’ve spent 20+ minutes working on them
  • Not having enough surveys to do in the first place to make a decent income
  • Also getting paid literally a few cents for each survey you successfully complete

So when you’ve spent all day answering long boring surveys and only having a few dollars to show for it — I think you can see why I’m so against them.

What I Like About It

  • It’s free to join
  • You can make some money by doing surveys online

What I Don’t Like About It

  • They give you over exaggerated income claims as to how much money you can make
  • You have no account setting when you become a member
  • They suggest you join both good and scammy sites so they can make more money
  • They give you a false sense of urgency so you’ll sign up quickly to their sites
  • They use a fake person with a fake title to persuade you to join their website

Who Is Opinion City For?

I don’t believe Opinion City can benefit anyone in terms of making money online or finding legitimate surveys to join.

You can just as easily type into google “good surveys to join” and find more legitimate surveys to join, than you ever could with middle man sites like this one here.

My Final Rating

2 out of 5 ( Not Recommended )

While taking surveys can earn you “some” money online, at most you’ll only earn enough to help fill your gas tank — and the worst part is you only get paid about $.50 cent for doing a 20-minute survey.

And I don’t know about you, but I think my time is worth way more than a couple bucks an hour — plus I like doing activities that will pay me multiple times after I’ve completed the work.

This is why I’ve chosen a business model where I build websites that will allow me to earn a regular income each and every month. And this can happen whether I’m sleeping, eating, on vacation, or spending time with my family — which is something that simply can’t be done through online surveys.

  1. Hi Michael,

I had never heard of Opinion City and thanks to your review I won’t be falling for their tricks. Personally, I don’t think it is ethical for a company to make outrageous claims about how much money you can earn by doing online surveys.

In the past I have joined up with other online surveys websites. As you say, it takes a lot of surveys to make any money. But what is worse, with online surveys, is when you have spent many minutes filling out your answers and then suddenly you get shut out as your answers no longer qualify. When you get shut out of the survey, you don’t earn anything at all for the time that you did put in.

Thanks for this review, I hope that it helps warn other people about the unethical practices of Opinion City.

    • Hey Suzie I’m glad to hear that my review could help you out by showing you that it’s not something worth joining.

Also I can sympathize with you when you said you get rejected from surveys after spending 20+ minutes doing them — as this same thing has happen to me.

Therefore that’s why I’ve given up on doing surveys all together, and now spend all my time building out websites to earn a passive income online thanks to this program here.

  2. Thank you Michael for sharing with us on what Opinion City is — as I definitely found the truth when reading your article.

I have been there like you. I tried filling out surveys for cents ($0.75 was the average) and spending long hours at it basically earning nothing.

So while agree with your #1 recommendation that teaches people how to build websites and earn money from them — I sadly couldn’t afford paying $40 per month for premium membership and wait  6-8 months to generate a cash flow.

So I would like your opinion on becoming a Web Developer. Something I learned through that your programs free trial option, is I found very easy to build your own website.

According to the BLS, around 16% of web developers were self-employed in 2017, with the vast majority able to work at home, or anywhere with a laptop and speedy Internet connection.

Even better the national median wage for web developers was $66,130 in 2017, with the top 10% earning an average of $119,550 — and you typically don´t need an advanced degree to begin working in the field.

    • Hi Enrique, I don’t know much about web developers so I can’t say a whole lot about that field. However if your stats are correct and it’s something you think you’ll enjoy — I say go for it!

Now in regards to Wealthy Affiliate and saying you couldn’t afford it, did you know that they have a yearly option you can upgrade to for only $359 / year or $29.9 a month?

That right there will save you $121 dollars!

Also WA recently made it to where if you provide enough comments on people’s websites that they will give you real money for doing so.

And for every 4 comments you give, you’ll earn $1 dollar. So if you simply wrote 4 comments a day for every single day of the year (which takes no time at all and is very easy to do) — you would end up with $365 dollars.

That’s enough to pay for the membership even without getting the yearly discount!

So I hope this had shed some light on just how affordable WA can be, and the best part is if you are looking to be a web developer — you will be able to create up to 50 websites plus have hosting for no extra cost except your membership. 🙂

I hope this helps you out. 🙂
