So without any further ado, let’s get right into it!
Quick Summary Of Pampered Chef
Name: Pampered Chef
Price: $99 – $259
Rating: 2 out of 5
What Is Pampered Chef?
Pampered Chef is a MLM company that sells all kinds of kitchen products like pans, cookbooks, recipes and more.
The company started way back in 1980 when a woman named Doros Christopher came up with a simple yet ingenious business idea of creating professional cooking tools so that making meals could be easier and more enjoyable.
Today the CEO of the company is runned my a guy named Andrew Treanor — and it now has a community of more than 50,000 people.
Also they say their primary mission is still to help families enjoy mealtimes together through their cooking tools — but also give you and I the chance to build a business selling these same exact tools to other people.
But is Pampered Chef’s cookware actually all that, and more importantly can the average person who joins this opportunity really make a good income with this company?
Well lets just say if you keep scrolling down, you’ll find some interesting information about these questions and more.
What Does Pampered Chef Sell?
As I was talking about a second ago, Pampered Chef sells all kinds of products to make your life easier in the kitchen such as stoneware, pots, ovens, and more.
You’ll find that their products are separated into 4 main categories which are…
- Cookware and Bakeware:
- Pots And Sauce Pans
- Dutch Ovens
- Grill Pans
- Sheet Pans
- Baking Pans
- Baking Dishes
- Kitchen Tools:
- Baking Accessories
- Cutting Board
- Rolling Pins
- Food Thermometer
- Bread Mix
- Dry Rubs
- Small Appliances:
- Air Fryer
- Slow Cooker
- Portable Grill
- Ice Cream Maker
Most of their products range from $10 – $50, however when you start looking at their blenders, slow cookers, knife sets, and other things of this nature — you’re looking in the price range $100 – $300 bucks.
Now you’re probably thinking to yourself at this point, are these products really worth that price? And I don’t blame you because some of them are quite expensive.
Let’s just say I think you’re better off looking elsewhere if you want something that will last a while. And I’ll explain more on why I think this in just a second.
Pampered Chef Compensation Plan
Now if you try to read Pampered Chef’s compensation plan it can be very confusing.
This is because it’s 23 pages long, uses terminology that you’ve probably never heard of before, and also has so many graphs and numbers that you’ll feel like you’re back in math class.
So to keep you from trying to decipher the whole thing yourself and possibly get a headache — I will cover the basics on how the whole thing works.
Within their plan there are a total of 11 ranks you can earn which are as followed….
- Senior Consultant
- Team Leader
- Director Promotion
- Director Maintenance
- Director Re-promotion
- Advanced Director
- Senior Director
- Executive Director
- Senior Executive Director
- National Executive Director
Now to reach a higher rank within this company you’ll be required to make so many sales per month, plus recruit a certain number of people into your team.
Of course the higher you go the more you’ll be required to do.
And sadly the demands get so difficult that the majority of people will never make Team Leader or beyond.
You can earn 20% – 25% commissions based on how many sales you make per month.
Here is a chart showing you the different rates you’ll earn, based on how many products you sold.
- Make $1 – $849.99 sales a month = 20%
- Make $850 – $1,499.99 sales a month = 22%
- Make $1,500 – $3,499.99 sales a month = 23%
- Make $3,500 – $4,999.99 sales a month = 24%
- Make $5,000 and over sales a month = 25%
Pampered Chef uses a unilevel compensation structure within their plan.
This mean that everyone you recruit to join your team will be directly beneath you — which also entails that you’ll earn a percentage of every commission they make.
Now how this company works specifically, is they base how much income you’ll make through generations.
A generation starts when you find a Director Promotion within one of your legs, then ends when you find the next one.
Now based on what rank you are will determine how many generations deep you can go, which also will determine how much you’ll get paid.
Here’s a graph to show you what I mean.
So as you can see, you can earn anywhere between 3% – 9%. And here’s the breakdown of what you’ll earn based on your rankings.
- Director Promotion – Director Re-promotion = 3%
- Advanced Director = 7.5%
- Senior Director = 8%
- Executive Director = 8.5%
- Senior Executive Director = 8.75%
- National Executive Director = 9%
You can also earn some extra money within their program through various bonuses such as the Monthly Active Bonus and Recruiting Bonus if you meet specific requirements.
Now I won’t cover exactly what you’ll need in order to do this, but if you want more details on how their plan work you can view their entire compensation plan right here.
How Much Does It Cost?
To become a member of Pampered Chef, you’ll have to buy one of their 3 packages.
- Starter Kit ( $99 ) – Includes the best-selling Rockcrok Everyday Pan.
- Deluxe Kit ( $159 ) – You get everything in the Starter Kit plus more items.
- Ultimate Kit ( $259 ) – You get everything in the Deluxe Kit PLUS and even more items on top of that.
So basically the more you pay, the more items you’ll get which will allow you to show off Pampered Chef’s products and try to convince people to join.
What I Like About It
- This company has been around for quite some time
It’s safe to say that if this company has been around since 1980 and is still going strong that it’s not going anywhere soon if you decide to join it.
And this is actually excellent news, because believe it or not most MLM companies only last 3- 5 years.
- They have a lot of products you can sell
With them literally having hundreds of products within their inventory, there’s a good chance a customer will find something they like when you showcase your items to them.
Also on top of that, they nearly have 700 different recipes on their website you can try out without having to pay a single penny.
So a good marketing tip would be to tell someone after they buy a pan, oven, or whatever — is to then head over to their site and test out a recipe they might find appetizing.
What I Don’t Like About It
- Many customers have complained about their products breaking easily
As I was scrolling through some reviews about this company, one of the most common complaints I found people had was that the products they bought were breaking.
For example this person who bought a bar pan said the corners snapped off when they pulled it out of the oven.
And this person here said that the stone they bought suddenly cracked in half on them.
And I could list several more reviews on how people said their blenders were catching fire, that the knives they bought were dull, and so on.
So I don’t know about you, but I find this quite alarming especially when the whole foundation of this company is to give people “high quality” products for them to use in the kitchen.
- The products are expensive
Another thing I didn’t like was that the prices for most of their items are very expensive. For example a 12” nonstick skillet goes for $200 — and a multipurpose steamer goes for $300!
Then to make matters worse, as I just said you’ll be spending all this money and more than likely have your product break in maybe a week or two.
Of course high price items is a common thing you’ll find in most MLM companies — because they have to find a way to pay all their members and teams they’ve built somehow.
- The chances of you earning a good income are low
Then last but not least, this company has adopted an MLM business model over the years which actually puts you at a huge disadvantage right from the start.
Because believe it or not, recent stats have shown that 99% of everyone who joins an MLM company doesn’t succeed.
This is due to the fact that you’re required to hunt down your friends and family and beg them to join your team — which not only is ineffective but will usually cause hard feelings between the two of you.
Is Pampered Chef A Pyramid Scheme?
Pampered Chef is definitely not a Pyramid Scheme.
They have hundreds of products you can sell to people on their website — along with a ton of tasty recipes people can try out with their newly purchased kitchen utensils.
However with that said, many people have said that their products are not made that well, plus the fact that they don’t share their income disclosure with us.
Which to me sounds like most people who join this opportunity are making very little if nothing at all.
So I wouldn’t recommend this as a good way to make money online — but I’ll leave the choice up to you as to whether or not you want to join this company.
My Final Thoughts
At the end of the day Pampered Chef seems to be just your typical MLM company.
By that I mean they have overpriced products ( that don’t seem to be high quality ), plus the only way you’ll be able to make a good income is through recruiting people.
And the worst thing about this is there’s a high chance that anyone who joins your team won’t have the skills or motivation to be successful — which results in you not making money.
This is why I prefer affiliate marketing to generate an income online.
There’s no recruiting whatsoever, you can sell whatever products you want, and you don’t have to spend a dime on advertising.
You simply create helpful content that points people towards products they’re already looking for — then you get paid a commission each time they buy something.
