If you’re asking yourself the question is Stella And Dot a Pyramid Scheme, then you’ve come to the right place.
Here within my review I’ll be giving you everything you need to know about this company such as how much it cost to join it, what their compensation plan is like, what you’ll be selling and more.
Now I’ll be upfront and tell you I’m not an affiliate of this program so my article will be completely unbiased.
You see the goal of my article is to give you solid facts about this company ( rather than giving you a hyped up message claiming you’ll get rich ) that way you can decide for yourself if it’s something you want to try or not.
So with that said, let’s get into it.
Quick Summary Of Stella And Dot
Name: Stella And Dot
Price: $199, $499, or $699
Rating: 3 out of 5
What Is Stella And Dot?
Stella and Dot is an MLM company that started way back in 2003 which sells a wide range of fashion products for women such as necklaces, bags, and clothing.
The CEOs of the company are named Jessica Herrin and Blythe Harris — and according to this article here they came up with this name while at a Mary Kay convention.
Another interesting fact I found out about this company is that it’s named after both of their grandmothers, which I thought was pretty cool.
Anyways, they said the main reason they started this company was to help women be their own boss so that they wouldn’t have to struggle to balance their family around a successful career.
But can women who join this company really become financially free?
Well even though Stella and Dot have been around for about 17 years and are still going strong — I would be cautious before joining them as you’ll see why in a second.
What Does Stella And Dot Sell?
What really impressed me when I first landed on their site was the sheer volume of products they had for sale.
Some of the items included things like …
Jewelry – necklaces, earrings, and rings
Bags and accessories – clutch bags, crossbody bags, scarfs, and backpacks
Clothing – leggings, sleeve tops, and sweaters,
Beauty – face moisturizers, eye & lip care, plus sunscreen
So basically they have huge collections of products that average for about $50, however I saw a few that were in the $100 – $300 range too.
Now with me being a guy I can’t comment on how “trendy” or fashionable these items actually are, but just from having a quick glance at these items I would say ladies would have a fun time shopping at this place.
Maybe I’ll ask my wife later and see what she thinks about it.
Stella And Dot Compensation Plan
MLM compensation plans usually are long, boring, and a nightmare to have to sit through and read.
Therefore instead of going over every single detail on how you can make money with this company — I’ll give you the parts that I think are most important.
Within Stella and Dot’s compensation plan, there are thirteen ranks you can achieve.
- Lead Stylist
- Associate Stylist
- Senior Stylist
- Star Stylist
- Associate Director
- Senior Director
- Star Director
- Executive Director
- Platinum Director
- Diamond Director
- Double Diamond Director
The way you’ll get higher ranks with this company is simply by selling more products, plus building larger teams.
And with each new rank you obtain, you’ll have the chance to earn more money and other bonuses. However as you’ll see in a second, almost no one even gets past the first couple of levels after they’ve joined this company.
Whenever you sell Stella and Dot’s products directly to a customer, you’ll earn 25% on all sales you make. And this can possibly go all the way up to 35% if you sell enough items each month.
This is where you’ll be able to make the most amount of money with this company, but at the same time it’s the hardest way since you have to build a large and active team to make it happen.
Stella And Dot uses what is called a unilevel structure, which is where everyone you recruit will be directly beneath you — and with their plan specifically it only goes down 2 levels.
- Stylists will earn 4% on level 1
- Associate Stylists will earn 8% on level 1
- Senior Stylists will earn 9% on level 1 and 3% on level 2
- Star Stylists and higher will earn 10% on level 1 and 5% on level 2
Now to qualify for all these commissions, you have to make 500 PV each month — which is basically the number of sales you make combined with how many products you purchased.
You can also qualify for certain bonuses with this company if you meet certain criteria within a given period of time.
This is where you can earn a certain percentage of every generation that is underneath you ( all the way up to 5 generations ).
Now a generation starts when you find a Star Stylist in your downline, then ends when you find the next person with a Star Stylist ranking.
Here you’ll be able to earn a 1 time payment each time you obtain a new rank within their plan.
- Associate Stylists earn $100
- Senior Stylists earn $250
- Star Stylists earn $500
- Associate Directors earn $750
- Directors earn $1000
- Senior Directors earn $1500
- Star Directors earn $3000
- Executive Directors earn $5000
- Platinum Directors earn $7500
- Diamond Directors earn $15,000
- Double Diamond Directors earn $25,000
Now there are a few other bonuses you can also earn, but I figured you kind of get the point by now.
However if you want to see the full compensation plan for this company, Stella and Dot compensation plan
How Much Does It Cost?
To join Stella and Dot you’ll have to buy one of these three kits.
- Essentials Kit – $199
- More to Love Kit – $499
- Ultimate Kit – $699
Now the only difference between each of these packages is the number of products you can choose from when first starting out.
Also I would like to warn you that in order to stay a member with this company you’ll have to earn 500 PV over a period of 3 months.
So basically you’ll have to buy and sell a lot of products within that time frame — otherwise you’ll lose your membership and be stuck with all the times you just bought.
What I Like About It
- This company has been around for several years and has generated millions of dollars
Even though I personally don’t like MLM’s, it always makes me happy to see when one has been around for quite some time and is still generating a good amount of profit.
This at least means anyone who joins probably doesn’t have to fear the company might go under within a year or 2 — which is actually very common.
- They have a huge selection of products
Most MLM companies have a few products to sell, so it’s nice to see this one has a wide selection for you to choose from.
It reminds me of another company I reviewed last month called Paparazzi Accessories, which also had a huge selection of products for sale.
What I Don’t Like About It
- Staying as an active affiliate is very difficult
As with most MLM’s building a large and active team is always the hardest part — and even with the most generous plans most people still fail to do this.
However with Stella and Dot they make the requirements almost impossible to obtain.
You’ll need to generate 500 PV over a 3 month period, or you’ll be kicked out of the program — not to mention you’ll be left hundreds if not thousands of dollars in debt.
- Their marketing strategy is to throw trunk shows
When you ask how you’ll go about marketing their company after you join, they will tell you to do what is called a trunk show.
Basically this is where you organize all your products together, then invite your friends, family, and neighbors over to showcase and try to make them buy them.
Of course there are several problems with this like
- You’ll have to continually bother your friends and family to promote your products
- It can take a lot of time and money to set this all up
- You’ll have no idea what to do after you’ve invited everyone you know.
So basically this is a very unprofitable and ineffective way to go about marketing a company, and not to mention embarrassing since you’re always having to beg people to come over to your house.
To give you an idea of what these look like, here’s a short 7 minute video of a lady doing one in her house.
- Chances of you succeeding is rare
Then last but not least, the fact that this company is using an MLM business model to market its products already is setting you to fail.
You see studies have shown that 99% of people that join an MLM either make no money or end up in debt because they couldn’t sell the products they bought.
And Stella and Dot’s income disclosure proves this.
As you can see in the picture above, it shows that with each year passing people are making less money with this company.
In 2016 over 90% of people were making less than $6,000 a year — than in 2017 over 90% of people were making less than $4,000 a year!
So basically with each year that passes by, people are making less and less money with this company.
And I don’t know about you, but I would not want to join a program / company with these kinds of stats.
Is Stella And Dot A Pyramid Scheme?
Stella and Dot is definitely not a pyramid scheme or scam.
They have a wide selection of products to choose from ( which all looked pretty good to me ) — and the fact that they have been in business for so long makes this one of the few MLM’s that I think is at least worth trying out.
However with that said, as I’ve shown within my review the fact that over 90% of people who join are making less than a grand a year means the chances of you succeeding are slim to none.
And I contribute this to the high requirements they have put on their affiliates when they go about building their team.
So you’re welcome to try this company out if you want, but personally I would not want to do it simply due to the fact that there are far better and easier ways to go about making money online.
My Final Thoughts
I think that Stella and Dot is a pretty good company, which can offer women a small chance of earning a decent income online.
However the keyword here is small.
Know that in order to become successful with this company you’ll have to be willing to lose money, know how to handle rejection well, and don’t mind motivating / teaching hundreds of people on how to showcase products.
However the reality is very few people meet these requirements, and even fewer don’t want to put in the work to become successful.
This is why I prefer affiliate marketing to generate income online.
There’s no recruiting whatsoever, you can sell whatever products you want, and best of all is you don’t have to spend a dime on advertising ( or throw dumb trunk parties ) to generate an income online.
You simply point people towards products that they already are looking for and get paid a small commission each time someone buys something.
