What Are The Key Benefits Of Social Media For Marketing? Here’s 5 Of Them

In the past few years businesses large, small, online, and offline have started to realized just how important social media marketing really is.

According to recent research, over 3 billion people use social media each and every month — or 42% of the total population! So it’s easy to see that if you are not tapping into this massive amount of traffic online, that you’ll be missing out on a huge opportunity.

So today I’m going to show you the key benefits of social media for marketing, and how it can help grow your business and income to higher levels.

1) It’s An Affordable Way To Advertise

When it comes to advertising your business, social media is one of the most affordable ways businesses can go about doing it. By simply creating an account and giving regular updates and news about you’re business — you can get a ton of free organic traffic.

Also if you have the budget and feel like spending some extra money to further promote your business, social media is excellent for this.

In a post I wrote last week on how you can make money with Facebook, I explained how adverting on their platform makes it easy for people to target a specific group of people without spending much money. And with the right strategies in place, you can get a very nice return on your investment.

Just make sure if you do go this route, that you start out small and to see how your ads are performing — then if they are preforming well just spend more money to bring in even more revenue.

2) It Increase SEO rankings

While many people who own websites can get huge amount of traffic from the search engines by simply writing high quality content and updating their blog regularly, it’s also been proven that social media improves your overall SEO rankings.

It increases your SEO rankings

You see when your post gets shared to the various different social media platforms online and people click on them, they are sent directly to your website.

And social media users are already interested in what you have to say (since they clicked on your link) — so generally they will be spending a good amount of their time on your site reading your content and leaving comments.

Therefore Google will give your site a higher ranking in the SERPS and bring you more traffic, simply because you have people coming from Facebook and other platforms reading and enjoying your content.

3) It Lets More People Become Aware Of Your Brand

Social Media is an excellent way to get your brand out to new people, as you now have the chance to connect with new people each and every day.

By simply creating accounts with all the major social media networks like Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube — it gives people a chance to like, comment, and share your business to thousands of other people.

And doing something as simple as creating content on a daily basis on at least one of the major networks, I think you’ll be surprised at how many people will start to recognize your brand, trust what you have to say, and see you as expert within your particular niche.

4) Great Way To Build Relationships

great way to build relationships

With social media, you have the chance to interact with your audience and build a close relationship with them. You can easily and quickly respond to questions they may have, resolve any of their complaints, and get better insight as to what they want and need.

And by doing this, you’ll see that it’s easier to sell your products because they now know that you’re a real person and also have their best interest at heart — and aren’t just someone trying to make money off of them.

5) You Get Instant Feedback

As I mentioned earlier, social media not only lets you create ad campaigns without spending too much money — but it also lets you see instantly what people think of them (be it good or bad).

For example say you created a Facebook ad to try and get people to sign up to your new mailing list — but you realize that you’re only getting a few subscriptions per day.

Well thanks to Facebook’s advanced advertising system, you can quickly make some changes to try and get more people to sign up. Also since you can communicate with your audience quickly on these platforms, you can ask them directly what they need help with and adjust your email campaigns and ad to meet their needs.

So overall Social media can save you a ton of money and also improve your business in general since you can talk to them on a daily basis and get their feedback about certain topics.

Final Thoughts

There’s no doubt that marketing your business on social media platforms can give you all sorts of advantages. It gives you an effective and cheap way to create ads, it helps increase your SEO rankings, you can build stronger relationships with your audience, and a whole lot more!

Remember that over 3 billion people are using social media every month, and if you can tap into even a fraction of these people and market your business to them, that you’ll have a huge advantage over your other competitors within your niche.

But I also want to stress that social media is just another way to advertise your business, and should not be the only place you create content and try to sell items on. Because if you do, you’ll more then likely get banned from these networks for doing so.

So Here’s What I Recommend You Do Instead

Instead of using social media as your go to place to create content, I suggest you create a website (whether you have an online business or a physical building offline) — so that all the social media platforms will be more likely to accept you.

And the best place I know that can teach you how to create a website properly is through a product called Wealthy Affiliate.

  1. Hello! I couldn’t agree more! Social media has changed the way we talk to each other and make money. We’re able to be more influential to the people we care about and to even people we barely know miles and miles away.

As for me, I made my social media pages for my website before I made the website. I’m not sure how the process works but it’s going well so far. I may have done it backwards but at least i made up my mind of names and such before I committed to a website. Good read!

    • Hi Niko thanks for your comment.

There really is no right or wrong way when setting up your social media pages — just make sure you have them ready to go shortly after you’ve created your website.

I’ll be honest though like you I set up my social media sites before my site went live, that way as soon as I started writing content I could share it immediately to Facebook, Twitter, and all the other platforms. 🙂

  2. You know, your article has just reminded me of just how much time the average person spends on social media platforms.  And I’m not talking about affiliate marketers or any type of marketers.  I’m specifically referring to just friends/families etc socialising on facebook or twitter etc.

And you are correct to point out that instead of using social media as their go-to place to create content, they instead should think of creating a website.  I know you meant this in the context of internet marketers, but the same principle applies to the socializers!

The amount of time they spend on those platforms, they may as well think of monetizing those ‘sociable’ activities, wouldn’t you agree?!  They would learn how through great platforms like Wealthy Affiliate.

    Thank you for sharing.

    • I fully agree with what you said Cath, but I don’t think many people see Facebook and all the other social sites as an amazing way to make money online.

They simply go on there to catch up with friends, look at funny videos, and play games — and I can’t blame them because it does get addicting to do that kind of stuff lol.

However if you go in there with the mindset to make money, the people “hanging” out on social media can help you greatly build up your business and make you quite a lot of money online.

You just need the proper training on how to get these people who want to look at random things on Facebook — and bring them to your site with the intention of wanting to buy something.

If you can do that, then you’ll have thousands of customers flooding your site each and every day. 🙂

  3. I couldn’t agree more. Social media is where it’s at today. 3 billion people is a lot of people sharing on social media.

As you said, even a a tiny fraction of that is going to make a difference for your online business. It’s important to increase your rankings and get better noticed in the world of online.

Spreading the word about your brand and expertise is going to make a huge difference as well. I write a lot on my blog but I am nowhere where I want to be traffic wise. I’m just going to keep sharing my content on social media such as Facebook.

Do you feel any one media platform is better than another?

    • I don’t really think one platform is “better” than any other one, however I think depending on what your website is about can play an important role as to what platform you should choose.

For example if you were doing the video game niche, then YouTube would probably be your best option since you’ll more then likely be sharing a lot of videos on how to play games.

But if you were say in the photography niche, then perhaps Instagram or Pinterest might be better.

One thing though whatever your website is about, is that you choose ONE social media platform you want to focus on and master. Otherwise you’re going to spread yourself too thin and not be able to full engage with your audience and grow your audience to a good level.

    • I’m glad my post could help you out Julienne.

As I told someone a few minutes ago, the best advice I can give you is to focus on one social media platform — be it Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest, that way you can master it faster and build a large audience.

Personally I have found Facebook my favorite platform to use right now, however I know other people who have been doing really good with Pinterest, YouTube, and Instagram.

So again choose one platform you want to focus on and stick with it. 🙂

  5. It is no secret that social media is one of the best places to grow your brand. A lot of people are now depending strictly on social media to drive sales for their blogs. A lot of businesses also use social media because they know there’s profit to be made.

A lot of people know about this and want to open accounts in all the social media platforms. This is a bad idea because you would be drawn thin and then won’t be able to give your best to them. I say stick with at most 2 and become a master at it. That is the best way you can become successful when making use of social media.

    • I completely agree with you Jay. When people start trying to use every social media platform out there, they simply can’t grow a large audience because there time is spread out between all of them.

So instead of spending say 30 mins to an hour a day on one platform — you know are only spending 5 – 10 minutes — which can’t really do much of anything for you.

Now there’s nothing wrong with opening an account on other platform and sharing your content (as you should be doing this) — just don’t spend any extra time trying to build up an audience in them.

  6. I actually find that using social media is a great way to learn how to create new blog posts by seeing what’s popular and converts well and what doesn’t.  I especially love Pinterest for that exact reason.  And Facebook polls are awesome to seeing what people are interested in.  Awesome post on the benefits of using social media!!

    • You make a very good point Nicki, that I don’t think many people realize.

With social media you can actually look and see what your competitors are doing and get ideas on how to better market your materials, because you can see what people are responding too.

Also as I mentioned within my post, you can “socialize” with people and ask them directly what they would like to learn more about or what kind of problems they are facing.

Then you can create post / products to help them out and build up a audience of people who will come to know, like, and trust you. 🙂
