What Is Product Launch Jacking And Is It Worth Doing? Find Out Here.

Over time as you learn on how to do affiliate marketing online, your going to run across some terms that may seem confusing to you.

And one of the more common terms I always hear people ask about is something called product launch jacking.

So if this short post today, I want to clarify what is product launch jacking , how you can do it, and if it’s an effective strategy to make money online.

What Is Product Launch Jacking?

Launch Jacking is basically where you promote a product that just released or is about to release into the market.

You see when a product just enters into the market it’s VERY popular, which means thousands of people are searching online for information about it.

Kind of like if your an I phone user, you’re probably immediately looking online every time a new one comes out to see what new features and specs it may have.

Now many people like this strategy because they are able to write a well written review around a particular keyword that practically has no competition — which means they can then easily rank on page 1 of Google and get a ton of free traffic.

However you’ll come across several people say that this is an unethical way to go about making money online — but personally I think this is only true if you are just writing a bunch of fluff and recommending products without doing any proper research or actually buying the product to review.

How Can You Do It Effectively?

Launch jacking is actually quite simple to do, since there’s only 2 steps involved to make it work.

Step 1: First you need to find products that are about to launch or just recently launched.

To do this, you can go to a few different websites such as Muncheye.com or JVzoo.com then simply pick one of the products that are about to come out.

Step 2: Next you need to do some on page SEO

After you’ve gotten the product you want to talk about, next you’ll have to place your keyword in certain spots so that Google will rank you within the search engines.

4 key places you want to have your keyword in is the….

  1. Meta title
  2. Meta description
  3. within an image at the top of your post
  4. And somewhere within this first fold of your post

And after you’ve done this, simply write a review that will be both helpful and informative so that your readers will get value out of it.

Is It Worth Doing?

Now that you know what launch jacking is and how it works, the next question is whether you should even be doing it.

To answer this, I want to discuss some of the advantages and disadvantages associated with it.

The Advantage Of Doing It

The main advantage of launch jacking is that you can get a whole lot of traffic and very fast.

As I mentioned earlier, when a product is first released it’s usually surrounded by a lot of popularity — so by constantly writing reviews on products that are coming out you can capitalize on this popularity and get a lot of easy traffic.

And with the increased traffic you can also earn a lot of money in the process.

Here’s an example of an article I wrote a while back about Spin Rewriter 9.0 before it came out — and by doing this I was able to rank this article quite fast within Google.

Now since I didn’t promote this product, I didn’t earn any money by writing this review — but it did bring more traffic to my site which in return helped my overall rankings in the search engines.

The Disadvantage Of Doing It

The major drawback to launch jacking is that you have to constantly keep writing reviews day in and day out to make a good income online.

This is because once the hype of the product dies down you are writing about, so does your traffic. So if you aren’t constantly writing about the newest and best product about to launch — you’ll likely be left with zero traffic and zero income.

And personally I don’t see this a business model worth pursuing, because at the end of the day all your really doing is trying to earn a quick buck by promoting products that may or may not be helpful.

That’s why instead I enjoy creating authority sites filled with helpful content and products that I know will help my readers.

This way I can build an audience who knows, likes, and trust me — and therefore will allow me to earn a more stable income versus people who only make money off of whatever product just came out.

Final Thoughts

Overall I think product launch jacking defiantly has it’s pros and cons depending on how you go about doing it.

One on hand if all you want to do is use this method to make money, I think your going to have a very hard time making a decent income — and two your not really helping people out but rather just selling whatever is next up in line to make some quick cash.

However if you use this method like I do, which is combining it with an authority site to bring in additional traffic — then I think you’ll see some a nice increase in your traffic, rankings, and sales.

But in order to do this you must first know how to create an authority site, how to find keywords, and how to go about writing helpful reviews.

  1. Hey there Michael,

I haven’t come across this term before, but I am aware of it. I have seen people who launch products using this method, and frankly, they also give good commissions if you promote their product. What I really don’t like about it, is that I usually find a handful of very similar “reviews”. Which aren’t really reviews, but more like advertorials.

So, I’d like to ask this: do product owners have ready-made review templates for the affiliates to use?

    Regards,

    Marios

    • Yes Mario more often than not when you become an affiliate of these product launches, you’ll be given things such as…

      – email swipes
      – landing pages
      – videos that you can cut and paste
      – and so on

As you just said though, the problem is that with thousands of people using these premade templates there is not uniqueness on how they go about marketing it. So it gives the end-user no reason to trust them from anyone else.

This is why I ALWAYS recommend you create your own unique content with your own voice so people can learn to know, like and trust you — which at the end of the day is how you’ll really make money online.

And this program here taught me and thousands other exactly how to do this — so if you really want to know how to make money online I think you’ll like it. 🙂

  2. Very informative… as I progress on trying to improve my blog I keep coming across great ideas like this. Since I’m relatively new to this, it’s like trying to drink water thru a fire hose. In time I’ll get up to speed and be able to explore opportunities as they present themselves until then posts like this help me categorize opportunities and rank them by relativity to my particular niche. Are these all digital product launches or are there niche launches that could fit my model?

     Thanks for posting

    • Within this article, I was mainly talking about digital products that launch or that are about to launch which you can review to help get easy rankings for your website.

Now I wouldn’t really say there are “niche launches” because at the end of the day a niche is just a subject matter and you can easily make a full time living on niches that have been around for a long time.

It’s all about finding a problem people have, then writing helpful content that and pointing them toward a product that can help ease their troubles.

  3. Thanks for this awesome post. I hadn’t heard of launch jacking before, but it does make sense now that I think about it. I’ll be sure to check out those resources that you linked to. While I don’t think I would make this a consistent part of my strategy to gain traffic, do you think it is ok to do some of the time, especially if it is a big-time product that you know will bring in a bunch of traffic, but then could also continue to be helpful to my audience down the road?

    • Of course. 🙂

Whether you do this on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis — the benefits will still be the same as I outlined in my article.

Because you’re basically writing a review on something that hasn’t been launched, so you have almost zero competition and a much better chance of getting on the first page of Google.

Personally I would just try to throw a couple of these type of reviews every month into your schedule then a few month down the road see if it is working for you or not.
