What Is Slice The Pie?

If you’re wondering what is Slice The Pie about, basically it’s a platform where musicians can get feedback on the songs they’ve written (by people like you and me), that way they can improve upon them before they go public.

And as an incentive for people to actually take time out of their days to do this, Slice The Pie will pay you real money for each and every review you submit.

But how much money can you make? what kind of songs will you be listening too? And who is eligible to sign up to this site?

These are all answers I will be answering within my review, but before I do let me first explain in a little bit more detail how this site works.

Learn how to make more then just pennies online

How Does Slice The Pie Work?

The first thing you’ll need to do is create a free account and login to the site. Once inside, you’ll then have 4 different categories to choose from which are music, fashion, mobile, and lucky dip.

Different categories

At the time I’m writing this post, the only two options that were available to me were the music and lucky dip category, but being that this site is mainly about reviewing songs I wasn’t too surprised.

So assuming you click on the music tab, you’ll then be asked what type music you enjoy listening too along with a few other questions so they can pick out songs that are appropriate to you.

What kind of music do you like

After you’ve done this, you’ll then be presented with a song to review.

Where you review a song

Now in order for your review to be accepted, you need to listen to the song for at least 90 seconds, make sure you write at least 45 words (the longer the better), rate the song overall from 1-10, then give 12 more ratings 1-10 describing what the music would be like if it was a person — such as are they happy, honest, funny, etc.

Once you do that, you will simply submit your review, earn some money, and continue doing as many as your heart desires.

How Much Money Can You Expect To Make?

When first starting out, you’ll earn anywhere from $0.01 cent – $0.03 cent per review. For me it was only $0.01 cent, however for you it might be more.

Now in order to earn more money, Slice The Pie gives everyone a star rating from 1-5, and the more stars you have the more money you earn per review.

My star rating

And the only way to get more stars is to give a very detailed and constructive review for each song you listen to in English that has both proper spelling and grammar.

So whether you’re’re earning a penny or 5 cents — if you calculate that each song last 90 seconds plus the time it takes you to write the review (about 4 mins), on average you’ll make about $1-2 dollars an hour. But remember this is with ZERO breaks and after you’ve spent days, if not weeks writing reviews for only a penny.

How To Earn More Money

Besides striving to get 5 stars so each review you do is worth more money, there’s two other ways you can go about making money quicker with Slice The Pie.

1. Look out for their bonuses.

If you check in from time to time, Slice The Pie will give out special bonuses where each review will be worth WAY more money.

For me I got a notification saying that only for Monday, the kid category would offer me at least $.10 cent a review! So if I did this for say an hour or two, I could make probably make $4-$5 bucks.

Their bonuses

So keep your eyes peeled for these limited time offers.

2. Refer a friend.

The second way is by simply inviting people to join Slice The Pie with your referral link. When someone clicks your link, you’ll earn 20% of all their review earnings for 60 days and 10% after that.

refer a friend

And if we go with the same calculation that on average someone makes about 1-2 dollars an hour, then you can assume that for every person you sign up you’ll make about $0.20 in passive income each hour.

So while I know this doesn’t sound like much, if you were able to get regular referrals each week and have them actually do surveys — you could be making a nice side income by doing absolutely nothing!

However I just want to mention that this is harder than it looks — and in reality you’ll probably only end up with a few extra bucks a day / week when everything is all said and done.

How Will You Get Your Money?

To get your money, you’ll simply need to make a minimum of $10.00 dollars, then transfer your earnings to a PayPal account that you own.

And the thing I like a lot about Slice The Pie, is it’s very similar to a survey site I reviewed a couple weeks ago — in that you earn REAL cash for every review you submit. So there’s no getting points, and waiting around days / months in hopes they will pay you, because you get your money the second you hit submit.

Now when you are ready to cash out, in general it can take up to 5 working days for your reviews to get processed — and Slice The Pie pays on Tuesday and Friday of every week.

So if you spend an hour or so a day writing reviews, it’s very possibly to make over 10 dollars and cash out every week.

Who Can Join Slice The Pie?

Slice The Pie is available is almost every country that speaks English, as well as Germany.

However if you have any questions regarding a specific country, you can simply send them an email and they will let you know if they will accept you based on where you live.

What I Like About It

  • It’s free to join
  • It’s easy and fun to use
  • You get paid cash immediately after you finish writing a review
  • There seems to be no shortage to the amount of music you can listen to and review

What I Don’t Like About It

  • The amount of money you make is very low
  • It can get boring / time-consuming listening to song after song just to earn just a few cents

Who Is Slice The Pie For?

If you are an inspiring musician and want to get feedback on your songs, then Slice The Pie is a great option for you. Also if you’re looking just to make a some extra cash doing something as simple and fun like listening to music — then I think you’ll enjoy this site.

However I want to reiterate that I view this site as more of a fun way to earn a few extra dollars, and in no way will help you quit your job or become rich online.

So if you are looking for ways to make “life changing” money — then I recommend you not join this site and learn how to build a business online. This will give you a far greater chance of making what most people would call a full time income online.

My Final Rating

3 out of 5 rating

Even though I think Slice The Pie is a fun and interesting way to earn money online, the amount of money you’ll make from it is clearly is not worth it. You could spend all day writing reviews to the music you listened too, and maybe walk away with $5-6 dollars.

Now when you compare a freelance writer making $0.10 cent – $1.00 dollar per word, or an affiliate marketer earning hundreds of dollars in passive income from just a few referrals — you can start to easily see why this isn’t the best program to make money online.

That’s why I recommend if you’re serious about making money online, that you learn how to create a website and write reviews based around something your passionate about — be it music, sports, video games, or traveling.

And due to the fact that thousands of people like researching reviews to get different opinions — it allows you to easily start making a decent amount of money each month by simply offering these reviews along with products to people.

This is how I personally make money online, along with thousands of others. And many people have used this method to quit their jobs and earn a full time income online.

So if this sounds like something you may be interested in, you can check out my #1 rated program online and create a FREE account with them to learn the EXACT steps on how to create a money producing website.

Also just to give you a taste of what they offer, you’ll get access to thousands of written and video training lessons, 24/7 online support for your site, weekly live webinars, and access to over 1 million people that can help you whenever you have a question.

So again I urge you if you’re really looking for a way to earn some extra cash online, to create your own website verses doing reviews for Slice The Pie.

Anyways, what are your thoughts about Slice The Pie? Do you like it, find it unique, or have you earned money from them? Also do you have any other questions about them that you’d like me to answer?

  1. It is so amazing of the many ways that money can be made in the online world. But what is even more interesting is that there are some programs that can earn you a good living and there are some that is just not worth the time. What you are sharing here in this post is very informative and can help people earn a little bit of extra money online.

    • Thanks for your comment Norman.

It’s true that there are hundreds of ways to go about making money online, but in the end it really boils down to how you want to go about doing it.

find a legitimate program, an e commerce store, do freelance work, or do surveys.

Personally I’ve always been one who tries to work smarter and not harder, and have multiple streams of income for stability — therefore I’ve found blogging to be my favorite option.

So my advice is to you and everyone else, is to first find out “how” you want to go about making money online — then find a legitimate program that teaches the method your interested in.

  2. Hi Michael, Thanks for an excellent review.

I’ve come across Slice the Pie before and been tempted to join but never signed up. You’ve given me enough info to know it’s not for me. Although I like the fun aspect, the income is far too low. It would take ages for me to get to the $10 payout and I think I might be bored with the review process by then. Of course, if music is your life, it could be amazing.

Do you get to know who the Artists are?  Are you ever reviewing famous musicians or are they all unknowns?

    Reply
    • Hi there Lauren. Yes you’ll get to know the name of the artist your listening too with some of the songs but not all. It all depends on whether they want to give that information out or not.

And no you won’t be reviewing famous musicians, because this site is to help mostly new musicians get their songs rated and reviewed so they can then improve upon them before they go live.

  3. Slice The Pie seems like a neat concept, but too bad the pay is so low – not very motivating. I also tried some survey sites a while back and I felt ripped off because I would answer several questions taking time and then they would say I am not qualified and no credit. One of the surveys on swagbucks asked a lot of questions taking about 15 min. before saying not qualified – that’s when I quit survey sites.

My time is much better spent on developing my blog and affiliate offers, although it does take patience as it takes several months of building up a blog before good traffic comes.

Thanks for your honest take on Slice The Pie and I hope people listen to you about starting an online business that can bring some real cash flow – I totally agree with you on this.

I’m sorry to hear you had a bad experience in the past with survey sites — but like you that I don’t really enjoy them either due to how low they pay.

Out of all the methods I’ve tried to make money online, I have found that building out websites / blogs and inserting affiliate links has been by far the best way to go about doing it.

In simple terms, all you have to do is write high quality content, find high quality products, then with enough work and time you can easily start earning a good income online.

I wish you all the success as you build out your blog and bring in that cash flow. 😉
