What’s A Squeeze Page, And How Can You Make One?

If you’ve done any kind of research for ways to make money online, you’ve probably come across many ways in which people say you can do this.

One of the more common and very effective methods you can go about doing this is to create a squeeze page. However if your new to this whole affiliate marketing thing, you’re probably wondering what’s a squeeze page, and can it really help me make money online?

Well today I not only want to help clarify what a squeeze page is, but also show how you can create one, and explain when’s the best time to make it.

So without any further ado, lets get right into things here.

So What’s A Squeeze Page?

Have you ever come across a website then all of a sudden had a big pop up asking you for your email address? Or maybe you’ve clicked on a link before, where you’ve been sent to a single page website also asking for your email address?

well this is a squeeze page. It’s a one-page website designed to do one thing and one thing only — collect your email address.

The reason they call it this, is that marketers are trying to “squeeze” you through a premade sales funnel, usually by offering you something of value in return for your email address. Then once they have it, that’s when they can start to build a relationship with you, introduce products you may be interested in, and eventually get paid when you buy something.

Even still today, collecting people’s email addresses is still one of the most effective ways to make money online and connect with your readers.

But in order to do this, you have to learn how to create a proper squeeze page to begin with.

What Should Be Included In An Effective Squeeze Page?

As I said earlier, you can’t just simply ask for people’s email address and expect them to give it to you out of the kindness of their heart — you need to give them something of value.

Whether this is a free ebook, a 5-day training course, or giving them access to try out your program for free — as long as the person feels like what you’re offering can improve their life, they will be more than happy to give you their email address.

So in order to create a squeeze page that will be effective and increase your conversions, you need to have the following things:

  1. A captivating and engaging headline
  2. A brief explanation of what the offer includes
  3. An image of your offer
  4. A simple form they can type their email address into
  5. A clear CTA (call to action) telling them what to do

Here’s a great example of a squeeze page created by Wealthy Affiliate, that includes everything I just mentioned:

Now if you closer look, you’ll see they have all the following requirements that make up a successful squeeze page.

  • A captivating and engaging title, “Welcome to Wealthy Affiliate, You are seconds away from training, support, websites, and success online”
  • A brief explanation of what the offer includes — free access to their program allowing you to create websites and get training
  • A image to the left showing you what their program looks like inside
  • A simple form that you can type your email address into
  • And Last but not least a clear CTA showing you where to click to create your free account.

As you can see while each one can look totally different — in the end they all are doing the same thing which is trying to collect a person’s email address.

How Do You Create A Squeeze Page?

So now that you know what a squeeze page is, what it looks like, and what should be included within it — you’re probably wondering how to create one right?

Well you could do one of two things…

First you can hire someone to do it for you. This method is one I wouldn’t really recommend, as it can get very expensive and you may have to wait around for a while until it’s finished.

or

You could create it yourself. While I know what your about to say is something like, “but I don’t how” — don’t worry as there are several tools online that can help you out with this.

Some of the more popular ones are:

  • Instapage
  • Instabuilder
  • Optmizepress
  • Lead pages

Most of them like Instapage are free to use, letting you have a squeeze page up and running in a matter of minutes.

The great thing about this as well, is you can continue split testing different squeeze pages to see which one converts the highest. Also not to mention you’ll be saving all that money that you would’ve spent on someone else to create it for you.

So if you are looking to create a squeeze page, I would highly recommend you check out some of these tools so they can help you out. Or if you’re really up to it, you could create one from scratch with WordPress and a couple plugins to help you out.

When’s The Best Time To Make One?

If you spend any amount of time online, you’ll eventually run across people claiming you can make thousands of dollars overnight by building a squeeze page, then collecting people’s email addresses.

As I said earlier, squeeze pages are an excellent way to help you make money online by building an email list, but it’s not something that will bring in thousands of dollars within the next week.

Why?

Well first of all you need traffic to your website no matter what you’re doing in order to make money.

And since you are creating just a one-page website, you can’t rely on getting ranked within Google to get organic traffic — which leaves you only posting on random forums or spending a lot of money on paid ads to get people to your squeeze page.

Now if you just created your squeeze page, odds are you aren’t going to know your audience that well, and secondly you don’t know how well your squeeze page / sales funnel converts.

Again the best way to find this out is through paid advertising, and unless you have hundreds or thousands of dollars lying around you don’t mind spending, then doing this is going to be a complete waste of time (and this is coming from personal experience).

So exactly how and when should you make one?

Personally I have found that creating a blog and waiting until you’re getting around 50-100 visitors a day is the perfect time to create your squeeze page.

By doing this, you can then redirect all the traffic from your blog to your squeeze page, which will then give you all sorts of data into who your audience is and how well your sales funnel is converting.

After you know this, you can then go out and start creating some good ppc campaigns to bring in more traffic and build up your email list that much faster.

Final Thoughts

Email marketing is an excellent way to make money online, and squeeze pages are still one of the best ways to obtain your readers email address.

In short, squeeze pages help you drive traffic through a specific sales funnel, which then will allow you a much higher chance of selling a product as they get to know you overtime.

What’s even better is once they’ve bought something from you, the chance of them buying something else is much more likely — which is where the saying “the money is in your list” comes from. But in order to make this happen, you first and foremost need the most important part of any business which is traffic.

So again unless you have thousands of dollars you are willing to spend, the best option is for you to create a blog, get traffic to it organically, then redirect that traffic all to a squeeze page so you can collect their email addresses.

    • I might create a review later in the future on how to use Instapage, but to be honest it really is so simple to use that if you just played around with it a few minutes you could figure it out yourself.

      I think though adding a squeeze page to your website could really help you out, especially if your traffic is not converting that well.

  2. I think that my site definitely needs to have a squeeze page since my business can benefit from it greatly. I wonder what would be in general a good conversion ratio. 

    Let’s say that 100 people visited my squeeze page and 2 people signed up after that. Is 2% good or should it be higher?

    • I would say that is extremely low, and that you would want to keep split testing your squeeze page until it gets better. 

      On average you want anything between 15-20% conversion rate. So anywhere between 15-20 sign ups per 100 visitors to your squeeze page would be ideal.
